The 120 Days of Sodom and Other Writings

The 120 Days of Sodom and Other Writings by the Marquis de Sade is a controversial collection that includes his infamous novel The 120 Days of Sodom, written in 1785 while imprisoned in the Bastille. The work depicts extreme and disturbing acts, framed as a philosophical exploration of absolute freedom, power, and corruption. Alongside this, the volume often includes selections of de Sade’s essays, letters, and shorter writings, which provide insight into his radical views on morality, politics, and human nature.
