The Stave Church Painting (PocketBook)

Painting from Early Norwegian Churches in full color, finest quality, full-page and double-page reproductions.

This handsome volume of religious paintings from thirteenth – and fourteenth- century Norway features an informative introduction by authority Martin Blindheim, who describes the altar frontal, ceiling and wall paintings of Norway’s wooden stave churches and shows how this art, which flourished for a short hundred years, mirrored the entire North Sea culture of the time.
