Professor lovchuk's monograph describes the current trends in apprehension and critical
interpretation of scientific, progressive and humanist traditions of world philosophy and shows that
Marxist-Leninist philosophy evolves and consolidates its own, new traditions for the dialectical-
materialist approach to the development of nature, society, and thought.
The author considers the major landmarks of the history of Marxist philosophy, describing its integrity
and continuity at different stages of the history of Marxism and singling out the distinctive features of the
Leninist stage in Marxist philosophy The book sheds light on the major philosophical problems
elaborated jointly by Soviet and other Marxists concerning their stand on the problems of social progress
in the current epoch and how they solve the problem of man; their views on the subject, method, structure
and functions of philosophy and the application of the method of materialist dialectics to the latest
methods of science, such as systems analysis, cybernetic methods, model-building, and so on. The
the author shows that important and valuable as they are, these particular methods cannot be used as
universal philosophical methods of cognition, since they cannot replace the method of materialist
dialectics which has proved itself in science and in revolutionary practice.
