Edmund Burke, the second son of Richard Burke, a respectable attorney of Dublin, was born on the 12^th of Birth –father and January in the year 1729 (N.S.). His mother, mother came of the ancient family of the Nagles and was a Roman Catholic by faith. Though brought up in Protestantism, the religion of his father, Burke retained throughout his life respectful and generous feeling towards the religion of his mother and subsequently that of his wife.
