Contemporary indo-Anglian Poetry, both by virtue of its quality and its bulk, has established itself as a major expression of Indian sensibility. Moreover, a number of western educated Indian poets are writing in English to-day, and their themes and techniques are entirely different from those of the earlier poets. Hence one may be excused for referring to them and their poetry as New Indian English Poets and Poetry, instead of in the conventional way, as ‘Indo-Anglish poets and Poetry’.
