In this handbook a change of policy will be noted previously , a select list of hybrid tea type and other classes of roses were each described separately ,but it has been thought that a complete alphabetical list will be found easier for reference and the handbook has been prepared in this way accordingly.

The list of  varieties has been considerably extended to include most of those recommended generally and which are grown by rose specialist nurserymen in the British  isle ,but ahahave beenescribed from personal knowledge .it may be found    some old favorites have been excluded and the reason for this is that  in our opinion they are deteriorating.
