The publication of selections from the Prison Notebooks of Antonio Gramsci in English translation is a major event. The editors Quintin Hoare and Geoffrey Nowell smith, have done a magnificent job.

This is a precious book, and one looks forward to the next two volumes of his major writings promised by the publisher.
